New carb and cowl are functional

Here is my new ProForm main body carb. I can already tell a big improvement in idle quality and throttle responce over the Holley 700cfm. This ProForm body is said to flow about 830-900cfm. It comes with 4 corner idle, removable air bleeds, downleg boosters etc. Can't beat the deal for $99

I didn't want to spend a lot on a carb restore product to get the carb looking nice. So, I simply used a nice light gold rattlecan to dress it up a little.

I did have to change the primary throttle shaft because my 700 body had the older bell crank style linkage. On the secondaries I just removed the lever arm and fabricated a new one.
Total investment: $100 for the main body + $30 rebuild kit + Carb was free from a buddy= $130

Here is a $700 Holley for comparison

Since the last update, I have changed over to a Duraspark II ignition system and added an Accel Supercoil. Timing is locked out at 36 degrees

The cowl hood is now functional. I built this carb pan to mate with the hole in the hood

The hood seals to the carb pan with this rubber seal.

Carb now seals and sits flush with the hood opening. All of the cowl air has no option but to shoot down the carb

Here are some pics of the fake grill I fabbed out of a sheet of aluminum. From 10 feet it looks like the factory headlights.

Here is a factory grill

I am making this pic into a decal to finish off the grill
